Greetings to all,

In the midst of helping provide for the safety of our citizens in the St Louis region (as a result of Covid 19); I had the unpleasant experience of viewing the video of the final moments of the death of George Floyd, which occurred in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The video was both disturbing and nauseating. While I reside in St Louis and this event occurred 562 miles away; I am reminded of the words of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., when he was jailed in Birmingham, Alabama for standing for civil rights, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

While the officers involved have been fired; we join in unity with our fellow community leaders from the city of Minneapolis, in calling for those involved in this inconceivable act to be both charged and tried, to the highest extent of the law.

We also want the family and those traumatized by witnessing this event to know that we are holding you up in fervent prayer.

My testimony is yet Every Time…,

Bishop Elijah H. Hankerson III
President,
St Louis Metropolitan Clergy Coalition
