LESSON NOTES:
I.
THE KEY TO UNDERSTANDING
THE ENTIRE BIBLE. If
you understand that the Bible is written to show us how humanity was created
for God, fell into sin, was reconciled through Christ (who was the product of a
family) and God will restore everything through His sacrifice on the Cross;
then you have the message of the entire Bible.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 17Therefore
if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new. 18And all things are of God, who
hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the
ministry of reconciliation; 19To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20Now then we
are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in
Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 21For he hath made him to
be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God
in him.
A.
JESUS AND THE EARLY CHURCH
TAUGHT THAT THE ENTIRE OLD TESTAMENT TEACHES ABOUT JESUS. You can preach the Gospel
from ANY Old Testament book; just as well as you can the New Testament.
John 5:39-40 39You
study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal
life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40yet you
refuse to come to me to have life.
Luke 24:44-47 44He
said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you:
Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the
Prophets and the Psalms." 45Then he opened their minds so they
could understand the Scriptures. 46He told them, "This is what
is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and
repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all
nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Acts
18:24-28 24Meanwhile a Jew named
Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was a learned man, with a
thorough knowledge of the Scriptures. 25He had been instructed in
the way of the LORD, and he spoke with great fervor and taught about Jesus
accurately, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26He began to
speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they
invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately. 27When
Apollos wanted to go to Achaia, the brothers and sisters encouraged him and
wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. When he arrived, he was a great
help to those who by grace had believed. 28For he vigorously refuted
his Jewish opponents in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus
was the Messiah.
Acts 13:13-39 New
International Version
13 From Paphos, Paul and his companions
sailed to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to
Jerusalem. 14 From Perga they went on to Pisidian
Antioch. On the Sabbath they entered the synagogue and sat down. 15 After the reading from the Law and
the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying,
“Brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak.”
16 Standing up, Paul motioned with his
hand and said: “Fellow Israelites and you Gentiles who worship God, listen
to me! 17 The God of the people of Israel chose our
ancestors; he made the people prosper during their stay in Egypt; with mighty
power he led them out of that country; 18 for
about forty years he endured their conduct in the wilderness; 19 and he overthrew seven nations in
Canaan, giving their land to his people as their inheritance. 20 All this took about 450 years.
“After this, God gave
them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet. 21 Then the
people asked for a king, and he gave them Saul son of Kish, of the
tribe of Benjamin, who ruled forty years. 22 After
removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning
him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will
do everything I want him to do.’
23 “From this man’s descendants God has
brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. 24 Before
the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of
Israel. 25 As John was
completing his work, he said: ‘Who do you suppose I am? I am not the one
you are looking for. But there is one coming after me whose sandals I am
not worthy to untie.’
26 “Fellow children of Abraham and you
God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been
sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers
did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of
the prophets that are read every Sabbath. 28 Though
they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him
executed. 29 When they had
carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the
cross and laid him in a tomb. 30 But
God raised him from the dead, 31 and
for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to
Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.
32 “We tell you the good news: What God
promised our ancestors 33 he has fulfilled for us, their children,
by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm:
“‘You
are my son;
today I have become your father.’
today I have become your father.’
34 God raised him from the dead so that he will
never be subject to decay. As God has said,
“‘I
will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’
35 So it is also stated elsewhere:
“‘You
will not let your holy one see decay.’
36 “Now when David had served God’s purpose in
his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his
ancestors and his body decayed. 37 But the one whom God raised from the
dead did not see decay.
38 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know
that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. 39 Through
him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you
were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
II.
THE AUTHOR OF PSALMS.[1]
The
Psalms were composed by different writers: David, Moses,
Heman the Ezrahite, Ethan the Ezrahite, Solomon, Asaph, and also the sons of
Korah. But, many of the Psalms do
not acknowledge who the author is. Thus, these were composed in different
generations and at different periods of Israel’s history.
A.
EVEN THOUGH THESE ARE
SONGS; THEY ARE YET THE WORD OF GOD.
2 Timothy 3:16 16All
Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness,
1.
JESUS TAUGHT ABOUT HIMSELF
FROM THE BOOK OF PSALMS.
John 10:30-34 30I
and the Father are one." 31Again his Jewish opponents picked up
stones to stone him, 32but Jesus said to them, "I have shown
you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?" 33"We
are not stoning you for any good work," they replied, "but for
blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God." 34Jesus
answered them, "Is it not written in your Law, 'I have said you are
"gods"'?
Psalm 82:6 6I
have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
III.
WHAT IS THE THEME AND
PURPOSE OF PSALMS? The
book of Psalms was the hymnbook of Israel (and later Judah). The Psalms give
praise to God’s goodness. They also cover every imaginable human emotion: joy,
sorrow, grief, happiness, depression, etc. However, as with any book of the
Bible, the Psalms proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ: from His deity, to
His birth, to His crucifixion, resurrection and return. See how the Psalms
correspond with the teaching of the New Testament:
A.
JESUS DEITY IN PSALMS.
Psalm 110:1-4 1The
LORD says to my LORD: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a
footstool for your feet." 2The LORD will extend your mighty
scepter from Zion, saying, "Rule in the midst of your enemies!" 3Your
troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your
young men will come to you like dew from the morning's womb. 4The
LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever, in
the order of Melchizedek."
Hebrews
6:20 20where
our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest
forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
B.
JESUS BIRTH IN PSALMS.
Psalm 2:7 7I
will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day
have I begotten thee.
John 3:16 16For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
C.
JESUS DEATH IN PSALMS.
Psalm 22:1 1My
God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so
far from my cries of anguish?
Matthew 27:46 46About
three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, lema
sabachthani?" (which means "My God, my God, why have you forsaken
me?").
D.
JESUS RESURRECTION IN
PSALMS.
Psalm 16:9-11 9Therefore
my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. 10For
thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to
see corruption. 11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy
presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Acts 2:26-32 26Therefore
did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest
in hope: 27Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt
thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28Thou hast made known
to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29Men
and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is
both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30Therefore
being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of
the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit
on his throne; 31He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of
Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see
corruption. 32This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are
witnesses.
E.
JESUS SECOND COMING IN
PSALMS.
Psalm 110:2-6 2The
LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying, "Rule in the midst
of your enemies!" 3Your troops will be willing on your day of
battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from
the morning's womb. 4The LORD has sworn and will not change his
mind: "You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek." 5The
LORD is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. 6He
will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the
whole earth.
Revelation
19:11-21 New International Version
11 I saw heaven standing open and there
before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and
True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes
are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name
written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in
blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The
armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine
linen, white and clean. 15 Coming
out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the
nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the
winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this
name written:
king of kings
and lord of lords.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who
cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in
midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, 18 so that
you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their
riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and
small.”
19 Then I saw the beast and the kings of
the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider
on the horse and his army. 20 But the beast was captured, and with it
the false prophet who had performed the signs on its
behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the
mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were
thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the
sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the
birds gorged themselves on their flesh.
IV.
WHAT DOES THE NAME PSALMS
MEAN? It
means a sacred song or hymn.
V.
JESUS IN THE BOOK OF PSALMS. As stated, Psalms deals with tons of subjects. However,
the most important subject is the One Who will redeem us from our sins.
A.
PSALMS IS BROKEN UP INTO FIVE DIFFERENT SECTIONS. The number five pertains to the fullness of Christ’s
ministry.
Ephesians 4:11-13 11And
he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some,
pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the
work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13Till
we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
1.
THESE ARE SECTIONS AND NOT CHAPTERS. They also correspond with the 5 books of Moses (Genesis,
Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy).
a.
PSALM 1-41. These
Psalms pertain to humanity; just as Genesis pertains to the origin of nations
and (more importantly) the origin of the nation of Israel. Jesus’ human origin
is from great personalities like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Judah.
i.
HUMANITY’S CREATION.
Psalm 8:1-9 1LORD,
our LORD, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory
in the heavens. 2Through the praise of children and infants you have
established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the
avenger. 3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4what is mankind
that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? 5You
have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and
honor. 6You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put
everything under their feet: 7all flocks and herds, and the animals
of the wild, 8the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all
that swim the paths of the seas. 9LORD, our LORD, how majestic is
your name in all the earth!
ii.
HUMANITY’S FALL.
Psalm 25:6-22
6 Remember, Lord, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
for you, Lord, are good.
8 Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11 For the sake of your name, Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right
and teaches them his way.
10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful
toward those who keep the demands of his covenant.
11 For the sake of your name, Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.
12 Who, then, are those who fear the Lord?
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
13 They will spend their days in prosperity,
and their descendants will inherit the land.
14 The Lord confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are ever on the Lord,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.
He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.
13 They will spend their days in prosperity,
and their descendants will inherit the land.
14 The Lord confides in those who fear him;
he makes his covenant known to them.
15 My eyes are ever on the Lord,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.
16 Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish.
18 Look on my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.
19 See how numerous are my enemies
and how fiercely they hate me!
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 Relieve the troubles of my heart
and free me from my anguish.
18 Look on my affliction and my distress
and take away all my sins.
19 See how numerous are my enemies
and how fiercely they hate me!
20 Guard my life and rescue me;
do not let me be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, Lord, is in you.
do not let me be put to shame,
for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness protect me,
because my hope, Lord, is in you.
22 Deliver Israel, O God,
from all their troubles!
from all their troubles!
iii.
THE SAVIOR TO COME FROM THE NATION OF ISRAEL.
Psalm 14
1 The fool says in his heart,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.
2 The Lord looks down from heaven
on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.
4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?
They devour my people as though eating bread;
they never call on the Lord.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is their refuge.
they never call on the Lord.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the Lord is their refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out
of Zion!
When the Lord restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
When the Lord restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
b.
PSALM 42-72. These
Psalms pertain to the nation of Israel; just as Exodus pertains to the founding
of Israel as a nation. It is from the nation that Messiah will come and serve
as the Redeemer of all humanity.
i.
SUFFERING IN EGYPT.
Psalm 42
1 As
the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food
day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One
with shouts of joy and praise
among the festive throng.
so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food
day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One
with shouts of joy and praise
among the festive throng.
5 Why,
my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
6 My
soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep
in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.
8 By
day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.
9 I
say to God my Rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”
11 Why,
my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.
ii.
THE EXODUS.
Psalm 32:6-7 6Therefore let all the faithful
pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will
not reach them. 7You are my hiding place; you will protect me from
trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
iii.
NATION OF ISRAEL ESTABLISHED WITH THE
LORD AS KING.
Psalm 47
47 O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the
voice of triumph.
2 For the Lord most high is terrible; he is a great
King over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the
nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the
excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing
praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye
praises with understanding.
8 God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth
upon the throne of his holiness.
9 The princes of the people are gathered
together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth
belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
c.
PSALM 73-89.These
Psalms pertain to the Tabernacle; just as Leviticus pertains to worship,
sacrifice and God’s people being holy. This is God’s people’s relationship with
God. Jesus is the one that restores communion, fellowship and relationship with
God; by shedding His blood.
Psalm 74:1-12
74 O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger
smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?
2 Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the
rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein
thou hast dwelt.
3 Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even all that the
enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.
4 Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up
their ensigns for signs.
5 A man was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick
trees.
6 But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes
and hammers.
7 They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by
casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.
8 They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have
burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.
9 We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is
there among us any that knoweth how long.
10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy
blaspheme thy name for ever?
11 Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it out
of thy bosom.
12 For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the
earth.
d.
PSALM 90-106. These
Psalms pertain to Israel and the nations around them; just as the Numbers
pertains to Israel murmuring and committing sin with the nations around them. Yet,
God had grace to preserve the nation; so that He could take them into the
Promised Land. Just as we receive grace through our Lord Jesus Christ, that we
might have eternal life.
Psalm 95:8-11
8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation,
and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and
saw my work.
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this
generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have
not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they
should not enter into my rest.
e.
PSALM 107-150. These
Psalms pertain to God’ covenant with His people; just as Deuteronomy rehearses
God’s covenant and the blessings that will occur for obeying Him. We are able
to fulfill God’s righteous laws by receiving Christ as Lord and Savior. The
Abrahamic Covenant (to bless all people through Messiah) is fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
Psalm 115
1 Not
to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
2 Why
do the nations say,
“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.
4 But their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.
“Where is their God?”
3 Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.
4 But their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.
7 They have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.
9 All
you Israelites, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
11 You who fear him, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
he is their help and shield.
10 House of Aaron, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
11 You who fear him, trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
12 The Lord remembers us and will bless us:
He will bless his people Israel,
he will bless the house of Aaron,
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord—
small and great alike.
He will bless his people Israel,
he will bless the house of Aaron,
13 he will bless those who fear the Lord—
small and great alike.
14 May
the Lord cause you to flourish,
both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
both you and your children.
15 May you be blessed by the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
16 The
highest heavens belong to the Lord,
but the earth he has given to mankind.
17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
those who go down to the place of silence;
18 it is we who extol the Lord,
both now and forevermore.
but the earth he has given to mankind.
17 It is not the dead who praise the Lord,
those who go down to the place of silence;
18 it is we who extol the Lord,
both now and forevermore.
Praise
the Lord.
X.
PRAYER FOR SALVATION. As we close, if you have not received this
Jesus pray this simple prayer:
"Father, I know that I
have sinned against You. Please forgive me. Wash me clean. I promise to trust
in Jesus, Your Son. I believe that He died for me—He took my sin upon Himself
when He died on the cross. I believe that He was raised from the dead. I
surrender my life to Jesus today.
"Thank You, Father, for Your gift of
forgiveness and eternal life. Please help me to live for you. In Jesus' name,
Amen."
